Operation Eagle Tech
Final Agenda Completed 9/17/09
Budget, time, and availibility of resources were considered in developing the agenda
.

Purpose: To improve technology use and integration at Atascocita High School
Objective: Develop integration objectives for Moodle (via Humble ISD Virtual School) and School Center Web Design professional development sessions for Math and Science Departments' Techie Tuesdays. Advanced Technology Applications (Web 2/Independent Study) students will use the objectives to develop and deliver professional development workshops for Techie Tuesdays. Students will receive Service Learning experience and points, while teachers will benefit from additional technology instruction during conference periods.
Grade Level: 9-12

We have access to numberous new pieces of hardware and software on our campus. Maybe we need to narrow the focus to just a few and create effective ways to use them in the classroom.

Agenda Item: Make a wish list for technology purchases for the Tech. Apps./Bus. department. Jeff Mack has already mentioned video tech software.
Donna: I think we also need to include Moodle. The HISD Virtual School seems to be a good way to give quizes and tests. It is easy to have multiple versions, students get instant feedback, it grades itself, and it is paperless (my goal for the year). I will be giving my first quiz on it this week. Also, it is for more that just quizes. I just haven't explored all the possibilities or pitfalls yet.

Please let us know how your first Moodle quiz goes, your experience will help us when we venture into the Moodle world.
Ann: Not sure this fits what you want, but think this is a perfect way to help the math and science teacher integrate technology.
My vision: We need to get our own document cameras, mimio pads and United Streaming accounts and learn to use them, then teach the other teachers.

I got an email from Madeline Pasha today. I think we all might want to get involved with this.
"The math and science departments would like to begin a Technology Tuesdays program for our teams. Ideally, we'd like to start this on Tuesday,
September 15, but I realize that this may not be feasible. Our first technology session would involve further instruction on website design
and mass emailings. Science and math teachers would attend these informal work sessions during their common conference periods.

I thought that perhaps webmastery students of different levels might be able to instruct and support teachers as a type of service learning
project. Other upcoming workshops will involve the E-school technology, use of document cameras and mimio pads, and subject specific websites and United Streaming.

Mary: I think advanced technology students teaching teachers would be AWESOME--rewarding for all! I also think our campus could benefit from Dr. Chris Moersch's thoughts on technology integration and learning in the Digital Age. Information about the "LoTi Connection" can be found at http://www.loticonnection.com/index.html. I am a Certified LoTi Trainer (maybe there are others in Humble ISD?) and really like Dr. Moersch's
H.E.A.T. (Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authenticity, Technology use) classroom observation model and LoTi (Levels of Technology I**mplementation) framework. Cost is certainly a factor in the implementation of such professional development but if we could get support from the district level, even more campuses could benefit.

Susan: These are some fantastic ideas! I'm at a loss to come up with anything remotely useful. :( I especially like the idea of going paperless. I'm doing better so far this year, but I find it difficult to grade products online. Maybe Moodle would be the way to go. Donna, I've used Moodle so far to do an online tech. workshop, but I know nothing about the quiz/grading options. I would like to have more training on that.
